| Abstract : | This study will explain an observation made by Hargrave, some 20 years ago, concerning the computation of eigenvalues of a regular Sturm-Liouville problem with Neumann boundary conditions. Using the sampling method we show that the boundary function is in a Paley-Wiener space in the Dirichlet case but is not even bounded in the Neumann case. This confirms Hargrave's observation.
