Abstract : Conflicts between morphological constraints known as bracketing paradoxes seem to point to a need for a two levels of representation to handle morphological phenomena. I show how the supposed bracketing paradoxes result from incorrect formulations of the relevant constraints. In a case-by-case analysis of the apparent paradoxes, I summarize the data for and against the conflicting constraints and provide reformulations that account for the relevant data, dissolve the bracketing paradoxes, and maintain a single level of representation.,
