Abstract : Fluorescence demodulation spectroscopy (FDS) has been applied to determine lifetimes and self-quenching cross sections of two absorption lines in the X-B spectrum of 127-iodine. The lines are the R(93), 2-16 (v(n)-v(1)) transition and the P(95), 1-14 (v(n)-v(1)) transition. Both states exhibit pure lifetimes of about 280 ns and cross sections for self-quenching of about 46 Angstrom(2). Values of both the lifetimes and the cross sections are considerably smaller than previously reported.,
