Abstract : The rotating disk electrode hydrodynamic technique has been used to provide some kinetic information concerning electrodeposition of silver from the iodide and the cyanide systems. The deposition of silver from both the iodide and cyanide electrolytes may be interpreted in terms of a reversible chemical equilibrium preceding a slow interfacial reaction. The exchange current densities, and the transfer coefficients of the deposition processes, were deduced from the polarization data for the alkaline cyanide and iodide systems. From these data, standard rate constants (k(s)) values were calculated, and the results showed that silver deposition is kinetically easier in the iodide than the cyanide bath.,
