Abstract : Introduction: Haemobilia denotes the bleeding to the biliary tract, resulting from the pathological connection between a vessel and the biliary system. In the 70s haemobilia was associated mainly with the abdominal trauma, while currently its frequency increases due to the development of the invasive diagnostic methods and therapeutic methods. Aim of study: Aim of the study was the analysis of the diagnostic and therapeutic methods based on the literature review and own experiences. Material and methods: The literature review was performed using the database of EBSCO. The data published between 1996 and 2006 and some earlier, significant studies were evaluated. All pictures come from the patients treated in our department. Conclusions: The most common causes of haemohilia are introgenic injuries. Symptoms can appear even several months after the injury. The most effective diagnostic method is duodenoscopy and arteriography. The best treatment method is embolisation of the bleeding vessel immediately after diagnostic examination.,
