| Abstract : | 3beta-hydroxy-4,4,10beta-trimethyl-9-decalone and its dehydroxy analogue are useful intermediates whose Baeyer-Villiger oxidation and subsequent two-carbon homologation provides a quick entry into the monocyclofarnesyl skeleton.
